Curriculum at Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB)

Guided by Excellence

The Islamic College of Brisbane is committed to delivering a comprehensive educational experience, and our curriculum is a testament to this dedication. In alignment with the guidelines set forth by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA), we ensure our students receive an education that meets the highest standards.

Australian Curriculum Framework

From Prep to Year 10, students at ICB engage with the eight Learning Areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies, and Languages. This robust framework ensures a well-rounded academic foundation.

Islamic Studies: Faith and Learning Intertwined

In addition to the core subjects, reflecting our institution's faith foundation, students undertake a comprehensive course in Islamic Studies. This includes Quran recitation, Islamic history, Fiqh, Tawheed, Hadiths, and Akhlaq (moral training). Islamic Studies is an integral part of our curriculum from Prep to Year 12.

Senior Studies: Preparing for the Future

As students transition to Years 11 and 12, they follow the QCAA's Senior Assessment and Tertiary Entrance (SATE) program. This program allows students to select subjects based on their strengths and future aspirations. Our aim is to ensure students meet the requirements for the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and are well-prepared for tertiary education and beyond.

Vocational Opportunities

While ICB is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we recognize the importance of vocational training. Our students have opportunities to access various Certificate and Diploma courses through partnerships with TAFE and other external providers.

Arabic: Connecting with Our Roots

Arabic, taught from Prep to Year 10, is a vital component of our curriculum. As a compulsory second language, it not only promotes linguistic skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith.
