VET Pathways @ ICB
Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) is dedicated to providing a comprehensive education that goes beyond conventional subjects, and our commitment to excellence extends to our Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways. Aligned with our core mission, we collaborate with external Registered Training Organizations (RTOs) to offer diverse VET courses, enriching the educational experience for our students.
ICB also offers TAFE at School options for students in years 10, 11, or 12, providing them with a valuable opportunity to attain a TAFE Queensland qualification while still enrolled at school. These courses require parent involvement and agreement, as students commit to attending the course off-site one day a week. Similarly, School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) offer practical, paid employment opportunities for students in years 11 and 12, allowing them to work with an employer while simultaneously pursuing their senior certificate studies.
ICB's VET pathways are strategically designed to contribute significantly to students' attainment of the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). VET in Schools (VETis) funding is available, allowing students to enrol in their first VET course free of charge while still in school. Subsequent courses may incur a fee-for-service determined by the external RTO.
ICB supports all students who have completed a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or a Diploma to make an application to QTAC for University admission, regardless of whether they are ATAR eligible or not. This underscores our commitment to providing diverse pathways for students, ensuring they are well-equipped for success in tertiary education and beyond.
At ICB, our VET pathways seamlessly integrate into our commitment to nurturing confident, creative individuals. These pathways not only prepare students for meaningful careers but also facilitate their valuable contributions to the community and beyond, emphasizing the importance of both practical skills and academic excellence.
