Our wellbeing services for ICB students and families

At ICB, we have a purpose-designed space where we provide wellbeing services.

Called ‘The Wellbeing Hub, we provide confidential and accessible wellbeing services for all ICB students and families.

Our Wellbeing Hub team is experienced and plays a crucial role in supporting our young people to help make a real difference in their lives.

Our team includes a counsellor, counsellor aide, social worker, social support teacher, youth guidance officer, youth worker and registered nurse. We are committed to establishing warm and trusted relationships and a culture of care. We use our expertise to support young people to develop holistically.

ICB affirms its commitment to wellbeing as striving for total human development through tarbiyah. We are guided by the principle of tawhid which entails a unified, integrated, holistic approach – body, mind and soul.

Our Wellbeing hub services

Our Wellbeing Hub provides several health promotion, prevention, and crisis management services. We encourage:

Health promotion

Our health-promoting wellbeing programs engage our community to improve their health. We provide healthy environments that promote balance across physical, spiritual, social, emotional, and intellectual developmental domains.

We have several initiatives in place including providing breakfast for our students to improve their readiness for learning and over wellbeing. Our sports programs encourage the importance of physical activity throughout the day.

We also believe in the importance of fostering happy relationships within families. We host several community events, such as movie nights and winter bonfire nights, to facilitate family bonding time.

Prevention

Our preventative student wellbeing programs and services aim to prevent problems, stressors or conflicts. We have several ongoing initiatives including mindfulness and meditation programs to connect our physical and spiritual worlds.

Our resilience and social-emotional learning programs give students the tools to cope with life’s stressors as they occur. We also have a robust bullying prevention program at various levels throughout the school.

Interventions

Our intervention efforts often need a coordinated approach within and beyond our Wellbeing Hub team. We seek to identify any needs that are affecting wellbeing and provide mentoring and counselling services when they’re needed. We can make referrals to other specialists if necessary.

We work towards maintaining the dignity of the student and supporting re-engagement.

Counselling

Our school counselling team works directly with students. We can help them with issues related to learning, peer and family relationships, and managing difficult emotions.

Supporting our ICB families

We also offer free and confidential counselling support to the entire ICB community.

Our holistic wellbeing services focus on strengths and solutions. We strongly believe in respecting and prioritising the dignity of children and young people.

We hold positive and high opinions of young people and their families, using the principle of husna al adhan. This principle guides our relationships, engagement, and the way we develop our programs and services.
